The Brisbane Tool Library Inc. is a social enterprise that allows people to borrow hand and power tools, as well as camping gear and other items (sport equipment, kitchen/party appliances and Christmas decorations). The full inventory can be found here.
Brisbane Tool Library works towards reducing consumption and waste, while prioritising access over ownership.
Started in 2017, Brisbane Tool Library is the first tool library in Queensland, and in September 2018 they began operating from State Library of Queensland (level 0 of The Edge). This innovative and unique partnership brings to life a new model for traditional libraries, extending the services provided to the public, while building sustainable sharing of resources.
Members can walk in or pre-book online any of the available items. Memberships are $60/year (concession) and $75/year (standard). There are also memberships for not-for-profit organisations. For more info about memberships visit the website.
With the goal of sharing skills, Brisbane Tool Library will also offer a wide range of workshops (beeswax wraps making and recycling timber woodwork). Workshops are open to everyone, no skills required.
Becoming a member of the Brisbane Tool library you will save money, save space and have a positive environmental and social impact. For more info please visit the website, or contact firstname.lastname@example.org
