If you’re thinking of breakfast cereal, it’s likely this article isn’t directed at you. No offence.
This is a call to arms for all FL Studio users (the grown‑up name for the old‑school Fruity Loops music program) based in Brisbane and surrounds who might like to hone their production skills and attend a series of free workshops to be held at The Edge.
The workshops are aimed at intermediate to advanced users, and will explore electronic and hiphop production, working with voice samples, and the art of remixing.
Those who haven’t used FL Studio before can download the demo to their computers and have a go (www.flstudio.com ) or check out an introductory workshop next time The Edge puts one on (keep your eye on the website).
The workshops are being run by Andrew Curnock—Audio Catalyst at The Edge, videogame soundtrack producer and electronic musician. Andrew has more than 10 years’ experience with the program and a real desire to see some high calibre music production from local artists.

The Workshop was great and the information relevant.
I would have preferred a presentation or a walkthrough, explaining key FL Studio features and song creation, with mixing.
Thanks
Kevin
FL workshop was awesome!
Thanks for taking the time to hold this w/s. Be great for the rest of Brisbane’s FL users to come down and share there knowledge of FL with everyone and help build a FL network within Brisbane

Being pretty new to Fruity Loops, but keen on music production, I was going to be happy just to sit by and watch the more advanced users… but I was able to loan a pair of head phones and share a computer and actually hear the samples and beats etc getting manipulated and learn a bit about the interface as the tune was getting made, which was cool. I kind of stepped into some very basic ‘drag and arrange’ production without changing the samples too much, but it wasx still fun and just by getting into it a bit I want to look into this industry alot more. The lecturer was helpful and got around to everyone, there was also some advanced users making some cool tunes, and it was good to check out and have some fun. Thanks heaps guys, I’ll be keen for the next 1!
