DEMO-LITION DERBY 2

2–5pm Saturday 24 April 2010
Facilitator: Ian Rogers
Cost: Free
Bookings: email The Edge

Ever wanted to make a CD but don’t have the know-how or the gear? The Edge is the place for you. As the State Library’s new centre for creativity and experimentation, The Edge is equipped with a recording studio and now we’re using it to document you and your music.

So on Saturday April 24th, come along to our first Demo-lition Derby #2 and be a part of it.
What you need to do is:

  1. Make a booking.
  2. Check your email for the designated timeslot we’ll send you.
  3. On arrival at The Edge at said time, you will receive 15 minutes in the studio to perform your song. We can only do basic recording for duos or solo artists at this point. You can bring anything with you that produces sound acoustically (an acoustic guitar, a keyboard with a built in speaker, a ukulele, your voice, you name it).
  4. Play your song and we’ll record it.
  5. Take the CD we burn you and give it to radio stations, start gigging, get reviewed or put it online.
  6. Also make a copy for your grandma.

Any questions, email us or leave a comment below.

Important Things to Note:

  • All recordings made at Demo-lition Derby fall under an Attribution-Share Alike Creative Commons licence. That means you totally own your work but it is stored with us so that others can then cut it up and remix it as they see fit—as long as they give you credit. This is part of our policy at The Edge to encourage collaboration and experimentation. It does not mean that we own your song: you still 100% own your song.
  • A member of The Edge team will be recording your work, but not producing it. So make sure you have your song finished before bringing it in.

This is where it happens...
