We want to see you BOUNCE!

When: 27-28  May 2010
Where: Auditorium, The Edge
Cost: Free
Bookings: N/A

Have you ever sat at the bus stop looking wistfully at the wall while you waited for the bus to arrive? Have you ever slumped on the bench at the station and stared at the ground while you waited for your train to arrive? Have you ever really wanted something to do other than listen to your iPod while you waited?

If the answer is yes, then you need to Bounce.

Bounce was developed as part of a design challenge to devise a system that could encourage the people of Brisbane to lead more active and healthy lives. It works with the motto that even the smallest of immediate changes can lead to big long term results. Bounce was designed to be implemented at bus stops and train stations with the aim of encouraging inactive commuters to get up, move around and Bounce.

Bounce is an interactive virtual ball that moves and acts just like a real ball, with a few special tweaks — it knows where you are and will seek you out if you are sitting down or standing still! The Bounce display also provides up to date arrival times for all buses and trains at your station, so even if you are really involved with a Bounce game, you will still know when your ride is approaching.

The first Bounce prototype is being displayed at The Edge from Monday 24 May until Wednesday 2 June. For those of you wanting the full Bounce experience, creators Tammy, Adam and Kim will be in The Edge Auditorium on the big screen on Thursday 27 May and 28 Friday May. We would love to get your feedback and thoughts on the system, so come along and try it out.

In the immortal words of Mr. Busta Rhymes, we want to see you “Bounce. Bounce. Bounce.
