Beh Wattenburg—Electrickster

I’m interested in playing with energy. I want to use art to explore some of the ideas and information that we are being blasted with by the media.

I want to find a way for art to address the current state of play with energy resources – we are running out, it’s getting expensive, we are dependent, energy efficiency is the major theme of our industrial world. Art and Science need to come together to light the way. What is the place of ART in a rapidly changing environmental and economic situation.

Can we do some art using only the energy that we make or harvest from the surroundings?

What will we do with this precious energy? Are we gonna spend this energy in the usual profligate manner? Like a boy with 10 kilos of lego, given $50 what is he gonna buy? More lego of course.

I want to use old stuff, rather than buy things.

Creativity is crucial for finding new ways to live in a world that is changing really fast.

We have a crisis of creativity, everyone is in their box, having forgotten our potential to learn and grow.

We are so busy working, trying to make a dollar to buy the stuff we’re suppose to have.

  2. Hey Beh,
I would love to see and interact with some arty illumenescent electricky type of creation with power generated by human pedal power of some such,(gym equipment springs to mind)…tread mills, bikes + rowing machines. hooked up to some examples of traditional lights aswell as different types of new types of energy efficient lightng. With the aim of people being able to compare old and new by using an energy source that they can directly relate to… (themself)
