With the success of their first 14 week intensive programme earlier this year, AUXILIARY are launching a new 6 week course, AUXILIARY PLUS – delivering the indispensable foundations of sketching, model making and CAD, balanced with design strategy, theory and history.
AUXILIARY X Retrospective
In May of 2015, the Brisbane design community gathered for an exhibition unveiling of work from the AUXILIARY X programme: real world projects for real world clients.
Over the course of 14 week programme, 9 designers executed 18 high resolution projects for 2 very happy clients. On display at The Edge were concepts for 4 Pines Brewing Company’s Vostok Space Beer project, the first commercially viable – and drinkable – beer to be sent into space. Designers were tasked with adhering to 4 Pines’ brand ethos and strict NASA regulations, and the results spoke for themselves: the client happily chose one stellar bottle design for further commercial development. Next stop, space!
Without stopping, the team then began work for AUXILIARY’s primary sponsor Sunbeam Australia to deliver designs for a broad range of product categories. Designers turned insight into strategy – and turned sketches into advanced parametric models – all the while learning by doing. Projects by designers Raymond Dunlop, Angelina Kwan, and Rohan McEvoy were embargoed by Sunbeam for further commercial development, the best possible outcome for AUXILIARY’s educational consultancy model.
