Design winners announced

A big congratulations to the winners of the Queensland Premier’s Design Awards, announced last night at an award ceremony hosted by Minister Nolan at The Edge.

The 2011 Smart State Design Fellow Nicola Lloyd of Lloyd Grey Design, was awarded $40,000 in recognition for her work in developing the Queensland design culture through her business, as a lecturer at the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University, and as a member of several professional organisations including the Design Institute of Australia, Australian Graphic Design Association and Australian Marketing Institute..

Brisbane-based urban and regional planner Yen Trinh was awarded $10,000 as the Emerging Design Leader, acknowledging her international design practice in landscape, furniture, exhibition and graphic design across Australia, Toronto and New York.

    Disappointed to see that there is no image of the actual winner – lots of other completely irrelevant ones though… especially that ‘d’ (significance??) Rather poor report on a whole. Design in Qld is exciting and worth reporting in full No??
