Become a Catalyst
If you’re working where creativity meets technology, The Edge is the place for you.
The Edge is seeking the best local, regional, national and international creative practitioners across sound, screen, words, multi-media, journalism, visual arts, craft, fashion, architecture, urban design, science, engineering, sustainability and more to join our Catalysts and Residency program.
You’ll join The Edge for anywhere from two weeks to six months, to work on engaging projects and to drive The Edge’s creative programs. We’ll give you the chance to develop your own practice and projects and ask you to contribute to The Edge in return.
We’ll provide studio space, funding, personnel, audiences and technological tools you’ve been daydreaming about. We’ll even pay you!
Catalysts
Catalysts are the people who animate The Edge and drive the programming. They work in the Edge and we call them catalysts because they are responsible for making interesting things happen. Catalysts will have full access to the all the resources of The Edge and will act as mentors to the people working out of the space.
Catalysts’ roles are paid jobs for one day a week for six months (or equivalent). In that time you will be expected to assist with The Edge’s programming. That will involve inspiring and facilitating the development of new creative work by young people through organising workshops, events, exhibitions and presentations.
You’ll also be expected to document and share your work through blogging, twitter, and other social media so as many people as possible can access what you’re doing. You’ll have access to a budget for workshop and presentation materials depending on what you want to do and you’ll have extended access to the facilities and equipment at the Edge.
The Edge team and its partners will be able to provide you with technical, curatorial and collaborative support. Regional applicants can apply as Satellite Catalysts or negotiate travel assistance.
If you’re interested in becoming a Catalyst at The Edge, the next round call out is in the coming months, so in the mean time sign up for the newsletter and stay in touch.
