Become a Resident
If you’re working where creativity meets technology, The Edge is the place for you.
The Edge is seeking the best local, regional, national and international creative practitioners across sound, screen, words, multi-media, journalism, visual arts, craft, fashion, architecture, urban design, science, engineering, sustainability and more to join our Catalysts and Residency program.
You’ll join The Edge for anywhere from two weeks to six months, to work on engaging projects and to drive The Edge’s creative programs. We’ll give you the chance to develop your own practice and projects and ask you to contribute to The Edge in return. We’ll provide studio space, funding, personnel, audiences and technological tools you’ve been daydreaming about. We’ll even pay you!
Residents
Do you have a great idea for a creative project? Do you need resources and support to work on it? The Edge’s official Residents are creative people in any field who have new ideas about how they can go (more) digital.
To be eligible for a residency, you need a project with a public outcome of some kind—an exhibition, workshop or other event at The Edge, or a publication that acknowledges the support of The Edge. You’ll be working through The Edge on your own project.
Your residency can be as short as two weeks and up to six months long. You can spend that time researching, producing work, performing, or developing an event or installation at The Edge.
Like our Catalysts, we would like you to document and share your work through social media and generally ensure that as many people as possible can access what you’re doing.
We can provide a stipend of approximately $200 per week, assist you with seeking other support, and help you organise travel and accommodation if you are from outside Brisbane.
You’ll be supported by The Edge team, SLQ and our partners, and have 24/7 access to the facilities. Residents will be selected based on the project they propose and your role will be determined by your project.
If you’re interested in becoming a Resident at The Edge, the next round call out is in the coming months, so in the mean time sign up for the newsletter and stay in touch.
