DIY Chandeliers
DIY Chandeliers from Ben Carr on Vimeo.
Steel bowls, tea strainers and doll parts aren’t your typical chandelier materials, but when combined with Arduinos, a physical computing platform, this collection of bric-a-brac comes to life as an interactive installation.
Join DIY Resident, Nathen Street to create your very own interactive light piece. Over two days Nathen will teach you the basics of electronics, soldering and circuits. You will design your own chandelier from found objects and adorned it with personalised, programmed LEDs. What you make in this workshop, you take home with you, so get ready to renovate!
About Nathen Street
Nathen’s DIY tool kit differs a little from the one you might find at your local hardware store. He’s traded the pencil, oxy torch, mitre, axe and angle grinder for Processing, Openframeworks, Max/MSP, Ableton Live and Arduino. Nathen is not building walls and ceilings; he builds his own software and hardware. He’s not creating a new lounge or rumpus room; he’s manufacturing immersive environments that make the invisible visible.
