TRYIT // Mechanical Theatres

July 23, 2017, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The Mechanical Theatres workshop is an engaging and accessible introduction to the basic principles of mechanics and making machines. Participants will create a kinetic sculpture in the form of a miniature theatre with things that spin, move and jump.  Using a low voltage electric motor and a handful of neat mechanics, participant’s imaginations and creativity will be brought to life.

About TRYIT Workshops.

TRYIT Workshops are all about trying something new, testing new skills and experimenting. Running a workshop series like TRYIT allows us to be reactive to what’s happening around us; it gives us a platform to offer programs that you’ve told us you want, and with a short turn-around time. Workshops generally run for 1-3 hours and explore a different skill, plus you’ll always have something to take home with you at the end.

If you’ve missed out on this TRYIT workshop, or you’d prefer to attend the ‘tweaked’ version, we’re also offering a Mechanical Theatres workshop on Sunday 13 August, from 1-4pm, $40.

Requirements and prerequisites:

  • Participants must be over 16 years of age
  • Enclosed, flat footwear must be worn at all times
